Online Placement Testing
Choose to sit for your placement test anytime that is convenient for you. To register for an exam, please complete the online form at apply.acu.edu/register/placement-test. You should expect to receive a testing voucher and details within 1-2 business days. The cost per exam is $40. The exam fee will be charged automatically to your student account upon completion of the test.

On-Campus Placement Testing We provide opportunities for on-campus testing during NSO and Wildcat Week. The cost for on-campus testing is $15 per test. The exam fee will be charged automatically to your student account upon completion of the test.

Test Types:

Advanced Math Placement
Students majoring in math, science, engineering, computer science or pursuing a pre-health concentration (except nursing), regardless of ACT or SAT scores, will take the Advanced Math Placement.

Math Placement
This exam is used for placement into Math 109 - Precalculus I, Math 124 - Precalculus II or Math 185 - Calculus. Students who scored an 18 or below on the ACT Math or a 500 or below on the SAT Math have the option of taking the Math Placement to improve course placement or eliminate a math course, which would not earn graduation credit. Students who earned credit for Math 185 from AP or CLEP do not need to take this placement test.

English Placement
Students who scored an 18 or below on the ACT English or a 490 or below on the SAT Writing and Language have the option of taking the English Placement to improve course placement.

Test-Optional
Any students who applied and were admitted without an ACT or SAT score are required to take both the English and Math placement tests.

CLEP Testing
ACU awards CLEP credit for a variety of subjects. CLEP exams allow students to earn up to 30 hours of credit toward your college degree by taking certain examinations. To see a full list, visit acu.edu/testing. If you are interested in a CLEP exam, please make plans to take the exam in person during Wildcat Week.

Additional Information Math and English placement tests can be taken twice, are untimed and generally take about 45 minutes. Students are not eligible for placement testing after beginning any math or English course. Study tips and sample questions can be accessed at accuplacer.collegeboard.org/student. Students should review the Next-Generation Arithmetic, Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics and the Next-Generation Advanced Algebra and Functions for both math placement tests and the Writeplacer for the English placement tests.
